The Central American Network of Young Communicators is the methodological heart of Puntos de Encuentro's communication strategy. It brings together young communicators from the five countries to analyze the context, strengthen skills, assess risks and produce collaborative content.
How it works
The Network works at once as a school —ongoing training in feminist journalism, rights, digital security and ethical AI—, as a network of care —collective protection criteria for those who report in risky contexts— and as a regional early-warning system that detects in time what is happening in each country.
What the Network produces feeds Miradas Moradas, DKY Digital and Migrante App. It is the organization's main bet on the generational renewal of Central American feminist journalism.
Why it matters
In Central America, journalists who cover rights work under legal restrictions, online harassment and, in some countries, exile. At the same time, young audiences get their information almost exclusively from social networks, where it competes with disinformation and anti-rights discourse. The Network exists to answer both at once: a new generation of communicators with craft, judgment and protection.
In the first half of 2026 the Network brought together 15 young people from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica in six editorial planning gatherings and in training on sexual and reproductive rights, stigma-free coverage, and ethical, feminist artificial intelligence. Their work feeds Miradas Moradas, DKY Digital and Migrante App, and their context analyses guide the security decisions of the whole communication strategy.
A participation grant covers connectivity, training, digital-security tools and, when needed, legal and psychosocial support. It is one of the highest-multiplier investments the Foundation supports: every person trained produces content that reaches thousands.
