This feminist podcast, born from the digital magazine Miradas Moradas, listens to, feels and tells the story of the women's movement in El Salvador through voices that rarely appear in books. Interviews, chronicles and sounds of the territory connect younger generations with the region's feminist struggles.

When feminism took the floor: a sound journey through the roots of Salvadoran feminism —teachers, workers, peasant women, students and activists across more than a century— guided by sociologist Candelaria Navas.
Those who came after: Silvia Elizondo, of the Ixchel Women's Association, on the memories, tensions and new feminist agendas that emerged after the war.
And we called ourselves feminists: the living history of the Feminist Debate School, which for more than 30 years has allowed thousands of women to meet, think together and politicize their experiences. With Ivonne Argueta and América Romualdo, of Las Dignas.
Why a podcast
Much of the history of the women's movement in El Salvador is not in books: it lives in the memory of those who founded collectives, organized marches, opened shelters and sustained the work through war and the post-war years. Miradas Moradas decided to record it before it is lost.
Each episode combines long interviews with its protagonists, sound archive and sounds of the territory, written, produced and hosted by Gabriela Paz. The result is slow-listening pieces made so that young women today can meet the women who opened the way, in their own words, and so that those who lived that history can recognize themselves in it.
The podcast is published on La Radio Tomada, the digital community radio that hosts it in El Salvador, and distributed free on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. The first three episodes premiered on May 14, July 7 and August 14, 2026. Producing an episode takes weeks of research, travel, recording and editing: that is what every gift funds. Who makes it
Gabriela Paz is a feminist communicator and educator with a background in anthropology. She writes, produces and hosts every episode of Miradas Moradas. Her aim: that today's young women get to know the women who paved the way — in their own words.
The podcast is published in partnership with La Radio Tomada, a Central American independent radio and podcast platform.
