Governance
The Foundation is governed by its bylaws and by a board of directors that approves the budget, reviews financial reports and oversees the executive director, in accordance with Florida law for nonprofit corporations. The executive director is Fernando Carcache Bello, responsible for donor relations, legal and tax compliance, and coordination with the team that implements the programs in Central America.
The Foundation has conflict-of-interest and data-protection policies and does not share donor information with third parties. Founding documents, the IRS determination letter and the financial statements for the period are available to donors, foundations and partners who request them in writing.
Use of funds
Donations fund the work described on this site: feminist journalism (Miradas Moradas), youth media (DKY Digital), safe information for migrants (Migrante App), training of young communicators, support to organizations (GenGen), integral health and care, and applied research.
The work on the ground is carried out by Puntos de Encuentro, a partner organization based in Costa Rica with more than three decades of experience, under written agreements that set objectives, budget, indicators and the obligation to report with narrative and financial reports. The Foundation reviews those reports, verifies the use of funds and publishes results on the Impact page with their period and source.
The Foundation was incorporated on June 3, 2024 and files Form 990-N with the IRS every year; the 2024 and 2025 filings can be downloaded below. When income exceeds the 990-N threshold we will publish the full Form 990, and an annual report to donors every year. The period's financial statements are shared on request.
IRS filings
As an organization with annual gross receipts of US$50,000 or less, the Foundation files Form 990-N (e-Postcard) with the IRS every year, prepared by the accounting firm Ricky D. Garay & Associates (Miami). We publish the accountant’s letter and a copy of each filing. Note: both filings list www.puntosdeencuentro.org, the domain of the partner organization that implements the programs, as the website; the Foundation’s official website has been www.fundacionpuntosdeencuentroinc.org since August 2026 and will appear as such in the next filing.
Letter from the accounting firm confirming preparation and filing, and a copy of the e-Postcard.
