DKY Digital: young people talking — and transforming

Puntos de Encuentro's feminist media outlet for adolescents and young people aged 15 to 35. It covers sexual and reproductive rights, gender equality, violence prevention, diversity, migration, mental health and youth participation.

More than a channel

A regional infrastructure for public conversation

DKY was born as a radio program in Nicaragua —DKY FM— alongside the television series Sexto Sentido and Contracorriente. Today it is a multi-platform digital outlet producing short, direct, evidence-based content in the language of Central American youth.

Its audiences don't just watch: they ask questions, share experiences and confront disinformation from their own digital spaces. That makes DKY a barometer of what young people in the region need to know — and nobody is telling them.

How it is made

From evidence to a 60-second video

Every DKY piece starts from a real question from its audience and from verified evidence. The 2026 regional assessment with 201 adolescents and young people showed, for example, that nearly 80% had come across or doubted contraception information on social media and that 93.5% wanted reliable information through those same channels: that is where the series on the emergency pill came from.

The process combines four steps: listen (comments, direct messages and story polls), verify (medical, legal and academic sources), produce with young people from the Central American Communicators Network —in the language and formats of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube— and moderate the conversation each piece opens, answering questions and stopping harassment.

DKY sells nothing and carries no advertising: its reach of more than 1.2 million people in the first half of 2026 was almost entirely organic. What sustains that reach is the human work of production, verification and moderation, and that is what every donation funds.
