Migrante App: your guide to safe protection

Migrante App was created for human rights defenders, communicators and local leaders from Central America who are forced to leave their country for security reasons, for their personal safety or because of their human rights work, and for their families, who are often the ones searching for information from the country of origin. It is free, in Spanish, and works on Android phones and iPhones.

Someone who opens the app finds verified news on changes in immigration policy, legal guides explained in plain language —what rights they have, which documents to keep, what to do in case of detention—, a directory of organizations offering legal, humanitarian and psychosocial support, and an AI assistant that answers questions in Spanish and points to reliable sources.

What the app does not do matters too: it does not ask for unnecessary personal data, does not track location and does not share information with third parties. In a context of scam and exploitation networks that feed on misinformation, that security is part of the service. Through June 2026, 4,991 people had used it 22,076 times, more than four sessions per person: those who install it come back.
